Terms & Conditions

Steelmax Building Components Pty Ltd ("SteelDecks")

What's Not Included

Bolts or fixings to footings and existing structure are not included. These are site specific and should be specified and supplied externally to suit the site conditions specifically.

Flooring/floorboards are not included in the deck kit. Check flooring manufacturer's fixing requirements prior to purchasing to ensure your flooring is compatible with this system.

Certification & Compliance

The customer is responsible for their own certification to comply with council or local regulations.

The engineering certificate is for the floor frame only. It does not cover footings or connections as these are site specific.

Standard Allowances

Joist centres = 450mm centre to centre. Frame depths are 185mm where the panel widths (joist span direction) are up to and including 3.8m. 235mm deep frames for panels from 3.8m to 5.0m wide.

Design Loads

Deck kits are designed to the following floor loads:

  • Wind = N3 (W41N)
  • Live load = 3.0 kPa and 1.8kN concentrated load, evenly distributed
  • Dead load = 0.5 kPa

This is suitable for most domestic decks over 1.0m high, and most office loads for light commercial office mezzanines. It is not suitable for lower floors of two or more storey buildings which carry compound loads from the upper superstructure. Nor is the system designed to carry heavy loads from extra items like spas, hot tubs, pool tables, planter boxes, heavy office filing systems, heavily loaded storage or racking systems, etc.

Joists must be fixed to end boxed-bearers with the system specific joist connector brackets supplied, to provide stability and stiffening to both bearer and joists.

Materials & Corrosion

The Steel Deck Floor Framing System is made from corrosion protected BlueScope Z350 galvanised steel. This means that it will stand up to most environments, except for the most extreme situations. It is not suitable for use in applications closer than 300m to calm still coastal water or closer than 1km to rough active surf, or where exposed to corrosive elements and/or fallout from heavy industrial environments or similar — unless the whole frame (including fixings and fittings) is specially and fully coated with a suitable corrosion protective paint to provide a physical protective barrier coating to the whole frame.

Post & Stump Tube

Post and stump tube is supplied in 8m stock lengths only, for cutting on site by the builder/installer. All channel bearers and joists are supplied pre-cut with installation tolerances to suit your panel sizes. This keeps the need for site cutting to a minimum.

Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for complying with all workplace health and safety requirements whilst assembling the frame.

The customer is responsible for unpacking, laying out and identifying frame components. Separate bundled and abutting steel members and stump tube where exposed to the weather prior to use.

The customer is to check the delivered items against those listed on the order. Any discrepancies or missing parts are to be emailed to orders@steeldecks.com.au within 24 hours of delivery.

Payment Plans (4 Bi-weekly Payments)

At checkout you may choose to pay for your order in 4 equal installments charged every 14 days, rather than paying in full upfront. If you select a payment plan, the following terms apply.

  • Schedule. Your order total is split into 4 equal payments. The first payment is charged at checkout; the remaining 3 are charged automatically to your saved card at approximately 14, 28, and 42 days after checkout.
  • No surcharge. The total amount you pay under a payment plan is the same as paying in full at checkout. No fees or interest are added.
  • Non-refundable deposit. The first payment (25% of your order total) is a non-refundable deposit. It is retained by Steeldecks if you cancel your order at any point after checkout.
  • Shipping. Your deck will only be dispatched after the 4th and final payment has successfully cleared. Orders on a payment plan are held in reserve until that point.
  • Failed payments. If a scheduled payment cannot be collected, we will automatically retry after 24 hours, then after 3 days, then after 7 days. You will receive an email notification with a link to update your saved card if needed.
  • Exhausted retries. If all retry attempts fail, the Steeldecks team will contact you by email or phone to resolve the situation. Your order will not be cancelled without us first making contact with you.
  • Cancellation. Cancellations on payment-plan orders are handled by the Steeldecks team. If you wish to cancel, please contact us at orders@steeldecks.com.au. The 25% deposit is retained; any subsequent installments already paid beyond the first are refunded in full. In exceptional circumstances, Steeldecks may, at its sole discretion, refund the deposit as well.
  • Eligible payment methods. Payment plans accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and JCB credit and debit cards only. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Buy Now Pay Later services (such as Afterpay and Zip) are not available on payment-plan orders. Your card details are securely tokenised by Stripe; Steeldecks does not store raw card numbers on its own systems.
